We have three categories of images available for purchase:
  • Fine art photography
  • Giclée prints of original artwork 1
  • Original watercolors and drawings
The website is divided into ten galleries, organized by subject and medium. The New Work Gallery changes periodically as the artist's interests and work evolves.

The Inner Vision Gallery Page contains many of the works by Karen J. Andrews on exhibit at the Inner Vision Studio, located just outside of West Stockbridge center, and which is open weekends during the Summer and early Fall.

Karen's award-winning photography and watercolors capture the essence and peace of this special countryside known as The Berkshires. The images speak of the darkness within the light as well as the light within the darkness. There is beauty, emotion and mystery in these works.

Inner Vision Studio promotes a green, sustainable lifestyle, and our artwork is delighted to grace the walls of any green hotel or environmentally sensitive home. Architects, interior designers and green builders are some of our biggest fans. We also have a special affinity for healing arts professionals, many of whom are our customers: body workers, massage therapists, psychotherapists, chiropractors, naturopaths, and other alternative health practitioners. They report that their clients and patients feel calmer and more centered in the presence of this work.

Our "Enchanted Forest Series", the contemplative landscapes that helped the artist heal herself, have hung in dozens of hospital corridors, and are permanently installed in Hartford Hospital's Chapel area. The images speak to people in transition, in crisis, and help to reveal the beauty and treasures in adversity.

Dancers are often drawn to the dance photography and paintings of dance, and have been struck by the artist's authentic understanding of movement. In Gallery 4 and elsewhere there are images of modern dance, ballet, cultural dances, contra dance, and improvisational dance.

The artwork of Karen J. Andrews offers abundant versatility and variety with a persistent unifying vision. As above, so below. As within, so without. Inner Vision Studio takes you inward, and shows you the world through healing eyes.

Giclée prints, individually hand-signed reproductions of the artist's original works, are printed on fine archival paper and are available in a range of sizes (please see our current price chart for details).

Enchanted Forest Photography Series

The images in this gallery are from the "The Enchanted Forest", a series of intimate landscapes photographed during my own healing journey through what is called "Environmental Illness". These photographs are my souvenirs.

I committed to walking in the woods every day, wherever I was, for an entire year. In this state of heightened awareness, I was shown little pieces of magic. Ten years later, I still do this often.

Photography Gallery: New Work

I have been working in two directions, which upon first examination may seem like polar opposites — dance and machinery.

Both open my mind to stories, places and forms that speak deeply to me. I am beginning to sense the feminine and masculine energies that underlie everything and how these polarities inform my orientation in this world.

Local Berkshires Artists & Artworks

It isn't hard to fall in love with the land here in the Berkshires.

Certain light and seasons enhance the beauty some places, and I have tried to capture them at their peak, without being cliché.

Photography of Dance and Dancers

Photography Gallery: Portraits & Figures

Dance has always lived inside of me, and it is one of my favorite things to watch and to photograph.

Some have observed that dancers seem to move upon the earth differently, as if they were of a different species.

I have photographed in classrooms, contra dances, children's recitals, festivals, as well as working with a single dancer/model to achieve a collaborative image that speaks to us both.

Photograph: Housatonic Massachusetts River View

:Photography

Starting with a fairly ordinary photograph of the gritty rural neighborhood of Housatonic, Massachusetts, I explored laying thick strokes of pigment on top of finely detailed photographic images.

The resulting changes opened my imagination to an altered reality, and I found these simple transformations very engaging.

Original Watercolor Painting: Japanese Gardens

Watercolor Gallery: Florals & Still Lifes

In this work, I have been exploring different ways to use the paint — wet, damp, dry, thick, thin, hard-edged and precise, loose and expressive.

The subject is never as critical as this process of seeing deeply and using my feelings, memories, current skills and this fluid medium to interpret reality.

Watercolor Gallery: Portraits and Figures

As a watercolorist and photographer, I get to live in parallel worlds.

The camera gives me entrees into places I would probably never otherwise go, and allows me to capture surprising and ordinary moments that could not have been sustained in a studio sitting.

Watercolor painting, like photography, can be spontaneous and time-sensitive, but it invites a deeper and longer gaze.

I feel blessed to be the recipient of the gifts of these two rich mediums, which continually nourish and challenge different sides of me.

Original Drawing: New England Barns: Sheffield Barn

Watercolor Gallery: Landscapes & Architectural Drwaings

Sitting in a field for an hour or two, trying to record first in pencil and then in paint the expanse of what lies in front of me, I find to be the most challenging exercise.

After such a session, I feel permanently bonded with the place. As one landscape painter said, "Paintings are poems, not police reports."

Gallery of Mixed Media & Eclectic Artwork

This is a collection of pieces that did not fit neatly into the themes or mediums of the other galleries.

Some are drawings, some are altered photographs, some are photographs of paintings, and some are just one-time explorations of a subject.

As an eclectic artist and former Art History major, I have seen too much art to pin myself down to any one style or medium.

Inner Vision Studio, West Stockbridge, Massachusetts

Inner Vision Studio Gallery

The Inner Vision Studio opened its doors in July of 2006 as a place for me to show my original photography and watercolor.

We have great food, lots of happy art-lovers, and beautiful surroundings.

Most of the currently exhibited work will be displayed on this site, so if you see something you like, but want to know what it really looks like in person, please visit!
